What happens during a home sleep study, step by step
Last updated: 2026-09-06
Quick answer
During a home sleep study a trained technician visits your home in the evening, fits a small Level 3 device (a finger oxygen sensor, a nasal airflow tube and a chest band), and you sleep normally in your own bed. The device records overnight, the technician collects it next morning, and your report arrives within 24 hours.
Before the night
You book on WhatsApp and we fix an evening slot. There is nothing special to prepare — sleep as you normally would, and avoid alcohol or heavy sedatives that night unless your doctor advises otherwise.
The setup at your home
A technician arrives in the evening and fits three simple sensors: a soft clip on your finger for oxygen and pulse, a light nasal tube for airflow, and an elastic band around your chest for breathing effort. They check the signal is recording, explain how to remove it if you get up, and leave.
Through the night
You sleep in your own bed. The device quietly records airflow, effort, oxygen, heart rate, snoring and position. Nothing is streamed anywhere overnight — the data is stored on the device.
The morning and your report
The technician collects the device the next morning. The recording is scored and your report — AHI, ODI, SpO₂ and position data — reaches you on WhatsApp within 24 hours, ready to share with a doctor.
